The meal of the day is decided – today we are eating the yummiest and the healthiest dish ever – salmon. This is a fatty fish that is so easy to prepare and it is so healthy at the same time. Salmon is rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, proteins and vitamins like B and E which also has an antioxidant peculiarity.
There are millions of possible ways to make salmon at home and in this article I, as an experienced cook of the family will share with you the best ways to prepare salmon so that the whole family is consent with the dinner.
We can either bake the salmon, broil, toss on the grill or eat it smoked, poached or in stews and even make fish cakes and burgers or add salmon to salads. We decide.
Let’s Pan-Fry the Salmon
The fastest way to deal with salmon fillets that provides the fish with a crispy, crunchy skin. In case you prefer plain dishes, you can add some seasonings like salt and pepper and some olive oil and place the fish on a hot pan. Let the fish get fried for about 5 minutes and then with the help of a spatula turn the salmon on the opposite side let it cook for 3 minutes.
Once it is ready squeeze some lemon and serve the dish, it is ready.
We can roast the salmon in the oven
Again a very quick and easy method. This method is especially helpful when you cook salmon for a bigger group as you can place all the fillets into the oven.
What do we need to do?
Firstly, we need to season salmon with salt and pepper and place on a baking dish but the skin side of the salmon has to be downside. We need to bake the salmon in the oven at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can add other greens like dill or parsley to the fish and some vegetables if you don’t like it plain.
Why not grill the salmon
I am offering you another very simple method of cooking magnificent salmon – it is grilling. The taste of the smoke that is added to salmon fillets makes it even tastier and more appetizing. Once we have the hot coals ready we can place our lightly oiled fish again skin-side down.
After 5 minutes grilling we need to flip the salmon to the other side so that the salmon is well cooked from all the sides. The process needs to be done very carefully with the use of a spatula. If you notice that the flesh of the salmon is still sticking to the grate, let the salmon be grilled for another couple of minutes and try again. After another 5 minutes’ grilling the salmon is almost ready and we can check it to make sure out yummiest dinner is ready.
I have learnt this method from my husband as grilling is his thing and it is especially good when you taste grilled salmon prepared by your husband.
Fastest method? – Broiling Salmon
Broiling salmon is the fastest way of cooking salmon. You will not manage to leave the kitchen and the salmon is ready. Once the oven is on we can place flavored fish on the pan. Place the salmon on the top part of the oven right under the red-hot-glowing broiler very close to the heat source. Do not forget to check the fish in 5 minutes. If you feel it needs more time broiling as the outside is well done but the center not, turn off the broiler and keep the salmon in the oven for some more minutes to have a better result.
